Brad Barré
Fund Manager / Director of Investments

Brad Barré

Brad Barré is a graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport with a B.S. in Business Administration. As a seasoned Fund Manager and successful entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience, he specializes in starting, acquiring, and growing diverse businesses.

He has a proven track record of successful ventures, having bought 5 existing businesses and started 3 companies. His expertise spans all aspects of markets ranging from health care clinics, retail, construction, RV parks, and real estate brokerage. Previously, he served as the Fund manager for FDL Fund Management Fund I-A, which he started and exited.

Mr. Barré's portfolio includes the management of over $100MM of assets and multiple companies managing over 2,000 units in various states. He possesses a rich knowledge of business transactions, creative financing strategies, development, and high-level asset management.

In 2016, Mr. Barré was one of the founding partners of Black Cypress Development, where he was instrumental in the development of micro hospitals, construction and syndication of medical buildings, and asset management of hospital systems. He is the husband of Lauren Barré and dad to his daughter Chloe.

Woodus Humphrey

Woodus K. Humphrey, Jr. is a founding principal of Black Cypress Development, where he leads the firm's acquisition strategy and strategic partnership initiatives. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in Political Science, Woodus brings over 30 years of experience in high-volume transaction management and portfolio expansion. Prior to founding BCD, Woodus co-founded Pinnacle Realty Group, where he specialized in the strategic rollout and site optimization for national corporate brands.

Since 1992, Woodus has been a staple in the commercial investment landscape, orchestrating complex acquisitions and multi-unit developments for a blue-chip roster of national companies, including Dollar General, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and Enterprise. His expertise lies in identifying under-valued assets and executing sophisticated capital deployment strategies across the Mid-South. At Black Cypress Development, Woodus leverages his deep network and decades of market intelligence to source proprietary deal flow and navigate the regulatory and structural complexities of large-scale corporate acquisitions.

Jason Foster
Director of Strategy

Jason Foster

Dr. Jason Foster serves as the Chief Strategy Officer for Black Cypress Development, overseeing asset valuation, corporate capital architecture, and investor relations. Jason holds B.S. degrees in Accounting and Finance from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, followed by advanced graduate work at Oxford University and a PhD from Durham University. His professional pedigree includes tenure at Ernst & Young LLP (EY), where he advised on financial consulting, complex valuations, and tax structuring, followed by experience within the Dallas-based hedge fund sector.

As a founding partner of BCD, Jason integrates academic rigor with institutional financial expertise to drive the firm's investment thesis and portfolio optimization. His background in institutional-grade financial modeling and state-level regulatory strategy provides the Fund with a sophisticated framework for risk assessment and value creation. In addition to his role at BCD, Jason has served as an adjunct professor at Louisiana State University, specializing in philosophy and ethics—a background that informs the firm's commitment to transparent corporate governance and ethical leadership.

Larry Crane

Larry Crane is a founding principal of Black Cypress Development and a key driver of the firm's market origination and brand-scaling efforts. A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a B.S. in Marketing, Larry combines a deep understanding of market psychology with a proven track record in institutional relationship management. As a co-founder of both Pinnacle Realty Group and BCD, Larry has been instrumental in building the firm's reputation as a premier partner for national brands and private investors alike.

Larry's expertise focuses on "Go-to-Market" strategies and the professionalization of founder-led platforms. By leveraging his extensive background in commercial brokerage and regional market analysis, he identifies the operational synergies necessary to scale portfolio companies within the micro-LMM space. At Black Cypress Development, Larry focuses on the "human capital" element of acquisitions, ensuring that the firm's strategic partnerships are built on a foundation of operational excellence and long-term equity growth.

John Rennie

John Rennie

John Rennie is the operational and administrative engine of Black Cypress Development, specializing in post-acquisition integration and the implementation of scalable management systems. John brings a rigorous "operator-first" perspective to the firm's partners, derived from his current role leading operations for Black Cypress Development's multi-unit franchise platform. This direct P&L responsibility ensures he identifies precisely how operational workflows and unit-level efficiencies drive EBITDA growth and long-term equity value.

Beyond his multi-unit operational focus, John has a proven track record of managing high-complexity organizational transitions and capital projects for Black Cypress Development, including the oversight of a $25 million healthcare infrastructure expansion. His expertise in navigating stringent regulatory frameworks ensures that companies under the BCD umbrella maintain rigorous compliance standards and seamless corporate governance during periods of rapid growth. Currently, John spearheads the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven decision tools across the firm's workflows to optimize operational efficiency and investment analysis. Leveraging a background in logistical leadership and organizational strategy, John ensures that every BCD project scales with institutional precision and surgical speed.
